Gentlemen’s Video is going back to the vault. The studio has announced a new retrospective line, Golden Age of Porn, and it is opening the series with a name that needs no introduction to longtime fans: Kylie Ireland.

Why retrospective lines exist
Retrospective series like this one served a purpose the regular release calendar couldn’t. New titles chase the current moment; a vault line sells history. By the late 2000s a whole generation of fans had discovered performers years into their careers, and early material — often scattered across long out-of-print tapes and discs — was genuinely hard to find. Packaging a star’s formative scenes under one banner turned that scarcity into a product, and gave collectors a reason to buy work they may have never been able to see the first time around.
There’s a branding logic too. Calling the line “Golden Age of Porn” frames the back catalog as heritage rather than leftovers — the same move music labels make with anthology editions. And launching the series with a performer the studio itself describes as one of the biggest stars the industry ever made is the standard play: the first release defines what the whole line promises to be.
The choice of subject does a lot of work here. A retrospective only lands if the career behind it has real length, and Ireland’s — nearly three decades on screen and still going, by this announcement’s own account — gives the concept its proof.
